What is Lash Tinting?
Lash tinting is a semi-permanent beauty treatment that uses a specially formulated, gentle dye to colour your natural lashes from root to tip. Unlike mascara, which flakes, smudges, and washes off, a professional lash tint delivers rich, consistent colour that stays with you around the clock.
At Wax & Relax in Leverington, Wisbech, our trained therapists use salon-grade tints to match your chosen shade precisely, whether you’re looking for a bold, striking black or a softer dark-brown finish. The result is beautifully defined eyes that look polished from the moment you rise to the moment you sleep.
It’s an especially popular choice for people with fair or blonde lashes, those with busy lifestyles, sports enthusiasts, and anyone who simply wants to reduce their daily make-up routine without sacrificing a defined, wide-awake look.
What to expect from your lash tinting treatment, step by step
- Skin patch test
Amy carries out a patch test at least 48-hours before your treatment to check for sensitivity to the tinting solution. This is a standard safety precaution we take for every client.
- Consultation & shade selection
At the start of your lash tint appointment, Amy discusses your goals and help you choose the perfect shade. Ranging from classic black to softer brown or graphite. We consider your natural colouring to ensure the result flatters your features.
- Eye area preparation
Any make-up or oils are gently removed from the eye area. Protective pads are placed beneath your lower lashes to keep the tint precisely where it needs to be and protect the delicate skin around your eyes.
- Tint application
The tinting solution is carefully applied to your upper and lower lashes using a fine brush, ensuring thorough root-to-tip coverage. You simply relax — many of our clients use this moment to unwind and de-stress.
- Processing & removal
The tint processes for 10–15 minutes, then your therapist gently removes it with damp cotton pads, cleanses the area, and you’re free to see your results immediately — no downtime, no fuss.
Tips to make your lash tint last longer
A little care in the first 24–48 hours after your treatment will help your lash tint stay looking its best for as long as possible.
Do:
- Keep lashes dry for at least 24 hours after treatment
- Use oil-free make-up remover around the eye area
- Gently pat (don’t rub) your eyes dry after washing
- Use a lash serum to condition and nourish your natural lashes
- Book a top-up every four to six weeks to maintain results
Don’t:
- Swim or use a steam room within the first 24–48 hours
- Rub or pick at your lashes — this weakens them
- Use oil-based products near your eyes, which can break down the tint faster
- Apply mascara in the first 24 hours after treatment
- Use waterproof mascara regularly — it requires oil-based removers that fade tints

Lash Tint Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — when carried out by a trained beauty therapist using professional products, lash tinting is a very safe procedure. At Wax & Relax, all clients receive a patch test at least 48 hours before their appointment to identify any potential sensitivities. Amy uses specially formulated lash tints designed for close eye application, which meet UK cosmetic safety regulations.
Not at all. The treatment is completely pain-free. You’ll simply lie back with your eyes closed while the tint is applied. The most you might notice is a very mild tingling sensation, which is perfectly normal. Most clients find the experience wonderfully relaxing.
Results typically last between four and six weeks. This varies from person to person depending on your natural lash growth cycle, how quickly your lashes shed, and how well you follow the aftercare advice. Because new, untinted lashes grow through gradually, we recommend booking a top-up every four to six weeks to keep results looking their best.
Most clients find they don’t need mascara at all after a lash tint — that’s one of the biggest benefits! If you do choose to wear it, wait at least 24 hours after your treatment before applying. We recommend avoiding waterproof mascara on a regular basis, as it requires oil-based removers that can strip the tint colour more quickly.
Absolutely, and many of our clients do. Eyelash tinting pairs beautifully with an eyebrow tint or shape for a fully defined, put-together look. It also combines well with a lash lift, which adds a gorgeous curl to your natural lashes. Speak to us when you book and we can put together a treatment plan that suits your goals and budget.
We recommend keeping your lashes dry for at least 24 hours after your treatment. This means avoiding swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and even vigorous exercise that causes sweating. After the first 24 hours, you can wash your face and eyes as normal — just try to be gentle around the lash area.
Lash tinting is generally considered low-risk during pregnancy, but we always recommend consulting your midwife or GP before any beauty treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can also affect how the skin reacts to products, so a patch test is even more important during this time. Please let us know when booking so we can advise you appropriately.
